Children's Literature
This book relates Bible stories to fun activities. Each of the fifty-two lessons has a picture, story, craft, memory verse, and a message to think about. Bible stories are treated literally. Younger children will need an adult to read and help with the craft, access to a photocopier is taken for granted. Cartoonlike story illustrations are shaded black and white. Line drawings illustrate the clearly written craft directions. A paper bag puppet of an owl has parts that may be photocopied. The owl is related to the wisdom of Solomon. A triangular paper boat is propelled across the water by placing a drop of detergent in the water behind the boat. The boat is related to Christ's stilling the storm. A bit of wet sponge and a string tied through the bottom of a plastic cup make a very effective rooster crowing sound. This is related to Peter's denial. Bible references are taken from Kids' Devotional Bible, New International Reader's Version. Children and Sunday school teachers will enjoy the stories and workable, innovative crafts.
