Overview

Hooks and clips and bows! Oh my! Milly has got so much to help with before Billy's birthday party starts. Children can follow along and learn how to tie bows, wrap gifts, buckle shoes, braid hair and much more! The six birthday devices offer tasks that range from simple to slightly more tricky ones, which need a little more practice. Happy Birthday's got lessons on fastening things all wrapped up!

Children's Literature

This is a concept book and the inside front cover credits a large team of participants. The concept combines a book with learning skills for very young children with a birthday theme. It is a big book at 12 inches high by 9 inches wide. Pictured is a small blond girl getting ready for and attending her own birthday party. On the first page there is a real pink ribbon, tied into a bow, set into the picture of her dress. The text indicates that the birthday girl needs help fastening her bow and, indeed, there is a large hook and eye behind the bow. On each following page there is a task to be performed-a shoe to buckle, hair to be combed, a package to be wrapped-six in all. Some of them seem a little much for a small child to handle, such as the bow to be tied on a package and even the buckle on the shoe, but this would probably be a happy gift for a little girl to receive anyway. 2002, Silver Dolphin, Ages 2 to 5.
