Editorials

Dennis Mess

This is a collection of basic facts on anatomy, operative approaches, and bone metabolism used daily by orthopedists. This book can be used as a ready reference for musculoskeletal anatomy, basic surgical approaches, bone metabolism, and fracture classification. This book would be most useful for medical students and orthopedic residents. The text and illustrations are adequate for the book's purpose as an easily portable reference. The book is unique in how the various areas are put together in one source. This is a worthwhile addition to the library of residents and students. It could be used as a nice, quick review source before examinations. Future editions should be made more compact so the book could be carried in a lab coat pocket for use in the clinic and in the emergency room.
