Children's Literature
Ideal for children just learning to read or for older students wanting to improve their Spanish vocabulary, this book contains pages filled with common household words. Simple, colorful illustrations of the author also serve as clues to the meaning of each word. Two or three questions designed as prompts for thinking more about the meaning of some words are placed between illustrations on each page. These questions would be especially useful when an older reader and a younger reader are paired up to read this book. Ten sections are included relating to waking up, clothing, the kitchen, play time, spring cleaning, common foods, items in the garden, the living room, party time, and bath time. The final page is titled, "Good Night," and the only words to be read on it are the "Zzzzz" sounds coming from a sleeping child and his dog. Each section also has a different color theme relating to the illustrations, and again, could provide additional commentary for adults or older students while helping younger children investigate the book. 2000, Two-Can Publishing,β Ramirose Ilene Attebury
