Children's Literature

In this large-format board book, there is plenty happening, and you can deduce that just from the cover. Two youngsters are featured, surrounded by a few stars with varying textures and one that is also a mylar mirror. Opening the book shows a variety of kids at play, as well as things to touch and talk about. In addition to the realistic images of kids, there is a cartoon flavor with a brown and white dog that appears in each scene. Weather is featured on one spread that shows a big rainbow and a bright yellow sun. There are games, toys and scenes like those in the bathroom and bedroom in which the baby is shown counting some imaginary sheep. Each spread had items to touch as well as look at and discuss. This is a busy book without a cohesive storyline, but according to the back cover certain components will appeal to kids at various age levels. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
