Children's Literature
In this board book, toddlers will count baby animals ranging from one baby goat to six kittens. The difference here is that a statement is made on the left hand page"Here are two puppies." The flap on the right hand page shows one more of the animals and asks how many can be seen. When the flap is turned, the number appears along with the requisite number of animals. The concept of counting is pretty challenging for toddlers and adding to that number is most difficult. This book will be best used to simply count how many little animals are hidden under each flap. Part of the "Photoflap" series. 2001, Star Bright Books, $5.50. Ages 2 to 4. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
