Children's Literature -
This is a very traditional format for books that help kids (and adults) learn how to draw. A list of supplies is provided, but almost everyone has what is needed to do simple pencil drawings. The bulk of the book is made up of step-by-step instructions that detail the prescribed progression of marks to make to draw the desired object. A very important technique used by some artists when they draw is to first reduce every object to its most basic geometric components. This step insures that the relative position and scale of the items is correct. There are a variety of poses for each of the characters drawn. Some drawings are just of upper torsos, while others are full figures. The geometric drawings help detail how these views are accomplished. This expands an artist's versatility. This book includes instructions for drawing characters named Jad, Saryna, Hiroto, Lynweya, and General Kurok. The final drawing is a battle scene. Included are a glossary, related book suggestions, and links to internet sites that might be of interest. Reviewer: Kristin HarrisBook Details
