Synopsis
An encyclopedia for high-school students and general readers, with many color illustrations, an easy-to-follow layout, definitions and pronunciations of terms in the margins, and topic-specific sources for further information. It explains the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of nearly 100 infectious diseases. Entries also discuss such topics as bioterrorism, public health, and vaccination. Readers do not have to have access to the two mother volumes, for which no dates are cited, but the index encompasses them and the first supplement. Published in association with the Center for Children's Health Media, the Nemours Foundation. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
