School Library Journal

K-Gr 3-- Using numerous attractive full-color photographs, this book introduces the broad range of study covered by physics--from geology to medicine--and shows how it affects our lives. However, what physicists actually do in their work is less clear, but that may be impossible to explain to this age group. Sipiera's simple text occasionally clashes with terms such as inertia, nuclear fusion, and fiber optics, but the glossary may help adults define the words for young readers. What does emerge from the book is that this ever-changing branch of science is important and exciting--which may be the best message of all.-- Alan Newman, American Chemical Society, Washington, DC
