ea. vol: illus. photogs. glossary. index. (I Can Be Bks.). CIP. Childrens. June 1985. PLB $7.95. PreS-Gr 3 I Can Be a Teacher and I Can Be a Truck Driver are modernized versions of titles already on many library shelves. Both discuss in a simple, controlled vocabulary the training and duties of the stated career. I Can Be a Teacher shows today's teachers using a variety of teaching materials, not just books, and emphasizes the long hours teachers work both inside and outside of school. Women truck drivers are shown in many of the photos in I Can Be a Truck Driver. The title I Can Be a Computer Operator is somewhat misleading. The book actually discusses computer usage and the role computers play in all our lives rather than the job of a computer operator. Written from the viewpoint that everyone is a computer user, the book does little to explain the skills, training and knowledge necessary to make the computer field a career option. All three titles are amply illustrated with excellent color photographs and contain a picture dictionary. Pamela K. Bomboy, Chesterfield County Public Schools, Va.
