The reader will learn about firefighters in the cities, what life is like at the fire stations, and see photos of firefighters battling burning buildings. The reader will also find out what a firefighter's life is like in rural areas, and what firefighters do in emergency rescue situations. Included is information on what sort of training is required to be a firefighter, and a segment on the history of fire fighting in our country. The photos show women as well as men fighting fires. A glossary of special terms and photos of the different tools and equipment currently used by firefighters are included.
