Editorials

Reviewer: Martin J. Marcus, DDS(University of Chicago Medical Center)
Description: This book details uses for computer imaging in today's dental practices and how it complements esthetic dental procedure and diagnosis. This is a good sourcebook for selecting computers and what to expect from them.
Purpose: The purpose is to introduce computer imaging technology into the dental practice. Advice is given for the pre-purchase stage, step-by-step techniques, and tips for initial use of imaging. This is a newer technology, but it can no longer be considered first generation, so it needs to be considered for all dental practices. The objectives are very worthy and have been accomplished in this informative text.
Audience: It is written for dentists and auxiliaries who are actively seeking to improve their standard of patient satisfaction and are considering adding computer imaging technology to their practice. The editors and contributors are very credible with the computer imaging technology.
Features: There are good quality illustrations and several different types of graphs, charts, and step-by-step illustrations are provided. All of the information presented in this book is current and the subject matter is presented in an adequate manner. The overall appearance is very pleasing; an important aspect since this book deals with esthetic dentistry.
Assessment: This is a much needed basic book on a new aspect in dental practice. It gives a good overview of the basics required when investigating information on this highly technical subject as well as step-by-step approaches to its uses. It would best be suited in the libraries and offices of any dental practitioner.
