Reaching speeds sometimes above 200 miles an hour, Indy cars fly around the ovals of Indianapolis and the streets of Detroit. While most Americans associate the Indy open-wheel car with the Indianapolis 500 race, there is much more to these cars and races. In just a few words, the author is able to convey the excitement and most important facts about this type of racing. The information balloons, characteristic of the "Blazers Horsepower" series, have interesting facts. Braulick writes with a bit of a flair, while still accurately covering the subject of Indy racing. One area lacking is the history of this type of open-wheel class racing. Also missing are the families such as Andretti and Foyt. Photographs and a good glossary help the book with coverage of this exciting racing. While not a first choice, this high interest title will work for libraries and the classroom. 2006, Capstone Press, Ages 10 to 15.
