Intercultural Communication

As the workplace continues to become more ethnically diverse, the need for training materials that address the changes is needed on many levels of education. Intercultural Communication shifts the focus solely away from ethnicity and color by helping individuals to understand the many ways we may all differ from one another culturally (i.e. more women in the workplace, a higher incidence of older workers, a greater number of individuals who communicate openly about their disabilities, and a greater diversity in class background).

Susan Eckert is a consultant and coach, specializing in strategic people practices and leadership development. She has worked with executives, managers, and professionals and provides consulting, training, and coaching services that improve an organization's ability to attract, align, retain, and develop talent. The Author is currently facilitating a similarly structured workshop called Understanding Cultural Diversity. Ms. Eckert earned her Bachelor's degree from SUNY at Stony Brook and holds a Master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Her Masters degree involved a specific focus on the psychology of race, group dynamics and advanced conflict mediation programs focused on resolving conflict between individuals of different races, classes, and genders.
