Synopsis

Introduces the geography, history, culture, and people of Italy, the boot-shaped country in southern Europe.

School Library Journal

Gr 2-4-Two high-quality books that cover the land, climate, history, and culture of their respective countries. Both titles have a simple narrative structure and vocabulary appropriate to lower reading levels. Font size is large. There is a brief glossary, yet words are well defined within the chapters. "At a Glance" sections add additional information such as the flag, national song, and a picture of the currency. A colorful photograph appears on almost every page. Maps are clearly delineated in context with surrounding countries and bodies of water. The books provide more information than similar entries in the "True Book" series (Children's), and are superior to the "Checkerboard Geography" series (ABDO). Purchase where additional titles on these countries are needed.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
