Synopsis

A brief introduction to Niagara Falls and some things to do there.

Sharon Oliver - Children's Literature

This "Rookie Read About Geography" volume presents Niagara Falls to new readers in a very appealing little book. DeCapua gives the beginning reader an introduction to Niagara Falls by asking, "Do you know what makes a waterfall?" Then she explains what a waterfall is and how waterfalls are created. Niagara Falls is defined as a famous group of waterfalls with a map illustrating its location on the border of Canada and western New York State. All four waterfalls that make up Niagara are shown with labeled aerial photographs. Niagara is a popular place for tourists and attractions including riding a boat alongside the bottom of the falls or walking through a tunnel behind the Horseshoe Falls or visiting the Cave of the Winds on Luna Island, which are all described. The book is informative and entertaining with truly excellent photography that brings the falls to life. This is a must-have for every library within visiting distance of the falls and a solid addition to any library. 2002, Children's Press,
