About the Author, Joan Price

Joan Price
Author and speaker Joan Price calls herself an "advocate for ageless sexuality." She has been called other things by the media: "senior sexpert, "the beautiful face of senior sex," and—her favorite—"wrinkly sex kitten." At age sixty-one, Price wrote Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk about Sex After Sixty (Seal Press, 2006) to celebrate the delights of older-life sexuality—especially her spicy love affair with artist Robert Rice, who became her husband.

Children's Literature

J.K. Rowling always had an imagination. When she was five years old, Joanne or "Jo" Rowling, began telling stories to her younger sister, Di. Jo's first written story was about a rabbit that got the measles. Although Jo hated school, especially her teacher, Mrs. Morgan, Jo loved to read. The character, Harry Potter, was "born" on a train ride from Manchester to London. This biography, part of the "Trail Blazers of the Modern World" series, will enlighten young and old about J.K. Rowling's life. The book includes information on Rowling's growing-up years, college, and the process of writing Harry Potter. The text also includes a helpful glossary, internet sites, and a timeline of Rowling's life. The book especially would appeal to students working on a report about J.K. Rowling, and libraries and teachers would benefit from adding it to their collections. 2005, World Almanac Library, Ages 8 to 16.
