Ronald Ashri
Ronald Ashri is a postgraduate researcher at the University of Southampton, working in the "Intelligence, Agents and Multimedia" group that is part of the Department of Electronics and Computer Science. His research is focused on infrastructures for agents in heterogeneous network environments, which range from the typical PC to Palm-sized devices and mobile phones. This work is jointly funded by British Telecom and the University of Southampton. Other interests include the use of Jini network technology for the support of agent-based systems.

Earlier, Ronald worked for a short period at Adastral Park, BT's research center, focusing on security issues for mobile agents. He graduated from Warwick University with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Systems Engineering.

Steve Atkinson
Steven is a software architect and technical consultant with over 10 years experience. He has worked with clients from a range of industry sectors including the financial, public, telecommunications and broadcasting sectors both in the UK and, more recently, Silicon Valley. His particular area of expertise includes the management of complex data and the integration of database technology with internet/intranet technology.

Danny Ayers
Danny Ayers has a 20-year history of trying to make the best of inhuman operating systems, which in recent years have been less of an issue thanks to the Java language. Professionally he has been primarily involved with networking technologies, and as an independent information engineer he is currently working on tools that may help in the development of a semantic web. Constantinos Hadjisotiriou
After a diverse career start, that included Mechanical and Environmental engineering, FORTRAN programs and database management, Costas moved to writing WAP application software and content. He is currently working on image viewers for wireless devices, and industrial software for PDAs.

Marten Haglind
Marten Haglind has been a Java Enterprise developer and architect since 1997 and is one of the founders of Haglind & Thornblad Soft Solutions - a Swedish consulting and instruction company. His experience includes J2EE development and consulting for European and US companies. He currently is focused towards server-side web development, but has been around the block with Java. In addition to programming and mentoring, he teaches Java training courses for Learning Tree International, and is involved as technical editor and course author within both their Java and WAP curriculum.

Rob Machin
Rob graduated from Durham University in 1994 with a First in Mathematics and Philosophy. He has since discarded his studies of Leibniz, Voltaire and Sartre to work for both management consultancy firms and software houses.

Rob is a specialist in n-tier systems architecture and new technologies, developing component-based software using both Smalltalk and Java. He is currently working as a Technical Architect with the Concise Group Ltd., advising organizations, particularly within the global financial markets and investment-banking sector, on the use of Java 2 Enterprise Edition technology in their e and mcommerce strategies.

Nadia Nashi
Nadia Received an exemption from the Part One Exam in Architecture by the Royal Institute of British architects in 1990. A First class Post Graduate Diploma in architecture form Greenwich university in 1993 and an MSC in Software Engineering from Westminster University 1994. She taught Computer Aided Design at Greenwich University before becoming a full-time Object Oriented design analyst, java consultant and software developer.

Bill Ray
Bill worked at Swisscom (formally Swiss Telecom), world leaders in mobile interactive applications, designing their Interactive Television set-top box. Responsible for security and video application development, he was able to participate in the early stages of both JavaTV and the JMF. Having established a reputation for high security application development (and paranoia), Bill then set up Network 23 to provide interactive video application consultancy.

Richard Taylor
Richard Taylor is an independent mobile internet developer specializing in multi-device portals, and content conversion specialist. He has coded, team-led and project-managed his way through every computing fad since 1982, concentrating on object-orientation for the past 8 years. In his spare time, Richard dreams of Laverda motorcycles with perfect electrics. During this book it was the battery, the regulator, the brake micro-switch and fuse connection that failed. When he wins the Lottery, he is going to buy the marque.

Chanoch Wiggers
Chanoch Wiggers is a technical architect with Wrox Press Ltd. Over the last year, Chanoch has concentrated on mobile applications, especially with regards to J2ME, and on the emerging web services technologies. He specializes in java technology, specifically with regards to extending enterprise applications to the device. Chanoch enjoys riding his bike to work and back and the occasional weekend off.
