About the Author, Elena Carminati

For many years, Elena Carminati has been among the most noted jazz photographers in Italy. Her photo of Gerry Mulligan appears on the homepage of the United States Library of Congress website dedicated to American music. Her photos are published in newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, records, and books. Among the latter, Gente del Jazz (People of Jazz) is entirely dedicated to her work. Additionally, her photos appear in Amiri Baraka's book entitled Il Popolo Del Blues (People of Blues). Vittorio Franchini is a music critic for Corriere della Sera, Italy's foremost daily newspaper, for which he has also served as special envoy and chief editor, and later as director. He has coordinated numerous television programs and written scripts for radio shows and theatres, which have been performed at Verona's Teatro Romano and Milan's Piccolo Teatro. He has published approximately twenty books on the subjects of music, Africa, and the United States of America.
