This highly illustrated nonfiction work is part of Compass Point Books' "Profiles of the President Series." The book focuses mainly on Adams's presidential career while offering snippets of his personal life. The text uses simple and clear sentences and ideally can be used for elementary grade readers as part of an American studies curriculum. The strongest feature of the book is the reference section. This section features a full-color time line comparing Adams's life with world events. For example, when Adams started his law practice in 1790, readers learn that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had died. A handy glossary is included and a section of books, websites and historical sites for further research.
