School Library Journal
Gr 4-6-In four short chapters, Durrett discusses Salk's childhood and education, early research, development of the polio vaccine, and legacy. The book has relatively large print, section headings, numerous black-and-white and color photographs, and color illustrations. Jim Hargrove's The Story of Jonas Salk and the Discovery of the Polio Vaccine (Children's, 1990; o.p.) is similar in length and contains the same basic information for young researchers, but libraries that need another title on the scientist will not be disappointed in this one.-Shauna Yusko, King County Library System, Bellevue, WA Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
