These formula "Star Track" biographies offer general information about famous people. Julia Roberts' life is presented in a straightforward manner up to the year of 2001. In the first chapter, author Jill Wheeler begins with a brief introduction and then moves on in chapter two to early childhood, her family life and her beginning interests in drama. The remaining short chapters follow her life as she tries to break into show business, her movies, personal life, marriage to country singer Lyle Lovett, and rise to stardom. There is an attempt to show more of her personal side through her hobbies like cooking and knitting and her relationship to her family. But the biography does not reveal anything new about this star that has not been written in newspapers and magazines. Still, this is a pleasant, general, informative book about a popular movie star.
