Library Journal
Gr 3-5-This book effectively describes some of the historical events leading up to the Depression, the impact it had on the lives of young people, and the subsequent economic recovery. Organization is a strength, as is the layout, which includes period photos that relate directly to the text on the facing page. The glossary contains easy-to-understand definitions and pronunciation guides. Key words are printed in bold type, followed by a pronunciation guide, and defined within the text as well. Although the amount of information is limited, readers receive a good introduction to the topic and a foundation upon which to build further knowledge. A useful resource for older elementary students who are reading below grade level.-Megan McGuire, Lake View Elementary School, Madison, WI Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
