Gr 3-5Appealing full-color photos, crisp layout, and clear texts add to the success of these series titles. Since there are only two species of elephants and three species of leopard, each animal can be described concisely in this brief text. The reasons for their endangerment and their struggle for survival are delineated in a straightforward manner. The "Endangered Animals" series (Crabtree) groups animals by habitat and is often too general for reports on a specific species. The "Endangered in America" series (Millbrook) is exhaustive but difficult for younger students and reluctant readers. Though students may need to seek out additional resources, browsers and beginning report writers will welcome these books.Ellen M. Riordan, Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore, MDBook Details
