Overview

The ideal package for developing and implementing an effective elementary physical education program. Every area of your curriculum is covered, starting with an introductory look at the teaching of physical education and some answers to why physical education and activity are necessary to the specifics of your work with your students each day. The focus is on how to teach motor skills to children, how to implement a sound physical education lesson, how to manage the class effectively, what discipline strategies to use, how to deal effectively with children with disabilities, what your legal liability is and how to care properly for students, and how to introduce physical activity and fitness to children in a positive way. These activities focus on refinement of fundamental skills and introduce specialized sport skills. They introduce a variety of manipulative skills that help children improve visual-tactile coordination. The activities give students the opportunity to explore, experiment, and create without fear, while absorbing the how and why of activity patterns. The lessons stress cooperation with peers and place more emphasis on group and team activities. At this level, initial instruction in sport skills begins.
