K-Gr 1-Targeting beginning readers, this very basic, utilitarian overview features two or three short sentences per page: "This is a kinara. It holds seven candles." Full-color, posed photographs face each page of text. David Marx's Kwanzaa (Children's, 2000) is similar in format but is written for a slightly older audience.
