Synopsis

A girl and her father go through the steps involved in making a pizza.

School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 1-These small-format titles each feature a smiling child on the cover sitting at a kitchen table with ingredients to prepare the subject food. Each title has nine spreads with one or two large-print sentences on the left opposite a full-page photo. In the first book, the steps a girl and her father take to make a pizza are outlined. In Taco, a boy and his mother handle different aspects of the food preparation (the mother cuts the tomatoes and uses the stove). No recipes or lists of ingredients are included. These very simple beginning readers may encourage a natural curiosity about cooking and food and will complement existing titles such as Marjorie Pillar's Pizza Man (HarperCollins, 1990).-Augusta R. Malvagno, Queens Borough Public Library, NY Copyright 2003 Cahners Business Information.
