Synopsis

Tommy points out the various signs in his school.

Courtney Angermeier - Children's Literature

This title is part of the "Signs in My World" series that follows children through familiar settings and introduces readers to common signs in their environment. In this book, Tommy walks through his school introducing the adults and the spaces in his school. He points out signs around his school and explains their meanings to the reader. The book is set up to encourage practice matching and sequencing as well as introducing readers to new vocabulary. Like all the books in the series, it uses engaging photos of multi-cultural children in settings familiar to young children. It contains a table of contents, vocabulary page, suggestions for further reading, and an index. While this seems extreme for such a short book, it offers an excellent opportunity for young readers to learn about book structure. 2003, Rosen Book Works, Ages 3 to 5.
