Children's Literature

Three lion cubs look out from the cover of this board book that proudly proclaims it is part of the "Planet Earth" series and is printed on recycled paper. The back cover notes "These little lion cubs have big adventures!" That claim may be a bit of a stretch, given the book's sparse content. Young ones will learn that lion cubs do live in families called prides, but that for the most part they seem to enjoy a good snooze. Cubs do venture out with their mothers to learn how to hunt and where to get water. The cubs do play and generally stay together, but there is no real adventure described or depicted. Still, the photographs are a delight and make this book a worthwhile purchase. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
