Synopsis
When Little Bear protests at bedtime because he cannot find "Sleepy," Papa helps him look in the bath, in his pajamas, and even in his bed.
Susie Wilde - Children's Literature
Little Bear is suffering with the going to bed problem. As they snack, bathe, zip into fuzzy pajamas, read stories, and cuddle, Little Bear and Papa search for Sleepy with no success. Finally Little Bear guesses Sleepy sometimes "likes Papa to stay a little longer." The agreeable and yawning Papa whispers "Sometimes it does," as Little Bear peeks out of one eye to make sure his father is close. In a wordless ending, we see Papa just outside the door smiling at his sleeping child. This especially patient Papa makes this an incredibly reassuring book! 2004, Whitman, Ages 3 to 5.
