School Library Journal
Gr 2-5 These series titles introduce children to various aspects of the title country via the alphabet. Entries touch on topics such as history, geography, culture, people, industries, recreation, and language. However, matching subjects to letters is a choppy and random approach to learning about a place. For instance, "A" is for "area," in Canada, yet "A" is for "all about Mexico!" in the other title. Two-thirds of each double-page spread is devoted to photographs and colorful illustrations accompanied by a short, general paragraph of text. The uneven layout varies from clear and easy to understand, to quite jumbled. Each title includes a very general half-page index. Supplemental surveys, at best.
