Gr 7 Up This workmanlike discussion of missing children includes information about runaways and abductions by parents or strangers as well as comprehensive coverage of strategies which have been developed to prevent as well as manage this nationwide problem. There are many case histories described in detail to help readers visualize specific scenarios; these include ficticious as well as actual situations such as the Adam Walsh case. Some full-page black-and-white photographs of victims, helping agencies and even a perpetrator are included. Hyde includes many references to the sexual abuse, child pornography and prostitution as well as the violence which many of the victims suffer. A comprehensive list of hot lines and action agencies follows the text. While the book has a drab, dreary appearance, the timeliness of the subject may draw in readers. Elise Wendel, Orchard Road School, Skillman, N.J.
