Overview

Synopsis

Revised edition of an education program intended for use with children ages seven to nine years old. The five categories include quiet activities for openers and closers, basic movement, cooperative activities, educational gymnastics, and rhythm and dance. Rae (moving and learning, U. of New Hampshire) gives the teacher the option of picking and choosing from among the sections to create a lesson plan, or using the activities within each section to address the specific unit being covered. Each activity includes suggestions for further exploration. The included CD-ROM and cassette contain 28 selections of original instrumental music written specifically for the relevant activities. About the Author, Rae Pica

Founder and director of Moving & Learning, Rae Pica is an internationally recognized education consultant specializing in early childhood physical activity. Known for her lively and informative presentations, she has worked with the Sesame Street Research Department, Head Start Bureau, Centers for Disease Control, President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues, and state health departments throughout the country. She is the author of 17 books, including the three-book MOVING & LEARNING Series, the award-winning GREAT GAMES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN, and JUMP INTO LITERACY: ACTIVE LEARNING FOR PRESCHOOLERS.
