Children's Literature
Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry are friends who live next door to each other. They are older (gray-haired) and he has a cat, Tabby, and she has a dog, Zeke. They do things together and take their pets with them. Mrs. Teaberry suggests that they take a cooking class where they will learn one hundred ways to cook beans. Mr. Putter would rather just have an ice cream soda, but he agrees to go with her to the class. They put their pets under the table and everything goes well until a lady reaches under the table to get her granola bar, but instead her hands goes into Zeke's mouth which is full of her granola bar. The table tips and beans are everywhere, but Mrs. Teaberry and Mr. Putter make the best of it afterwards by going to the ice cream parlor, eating their ice cream, and talking about the fun they had. This book is one of the "Mr. Putter and Tabby" series, and is a good-spirited, lively and humorous adventure of two friends and their adorable pets. Children will enjoy the hilarious illustrations and the endearing characters. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
