Playmates are an important part of a child's life. My Friends, part of the "Talk-About-Books" series, explores the fun and responsibilities of these precious relationships. In this sturdy board book, there are many different kinds of friends, revealed in colorful photos. There are friends that are younger, some that are older, friends that are our pets, and friends that are our brothers and sisters... Children from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds are featured playing on the swings, hugging their cat, playing trucks and learning the alphabet. These pictures are ones with which kids can easily identify. The simple text is easy to understand and, at some later point, easy to read.... It is a book that older preschoolers could "read" by telling what they see in the picture. My Friends is also available in Spanish as Mi Amigos. Highly Recommended.Children's Literature
Part of the "talk-about-books" series, "Each story explains a different aspect of the young child's world using photographs..." Since people come in all sizes, shapes and skin colors, it only seems natural that these traits would be true of their offspring. Your friends are people that you enjoy being with. They can be older, younger, male or female, and even related to you. Friends also help each other and share good and bad times. And just like adults they come in all sizes, shapes and skin tones. 2003, Anick Press, Ages 2 to 5.β Marilyn Courtot
