AGERANGE: Ages 3 to 7.On the back of the box Magsamen recalls what it was like when she was a kid and how important certain familiar routines are to getting off to a good night's sleep. First it is the facts--we need to sleep and Magsamen tells us why and about the sleep cycle. Light prevents the production of melatonin, and melatonin is what makes us feel sleepy. After the introductory facts there are stories and then some real life examples of interactions between parents and children. The book ends with a description of an activity using the materials that come with the book (Sleepy Star Pillow, lavender filled), foods that help you sleep and why, a bedtime checklist, and a bibliography of other books both fiction and nonfiction about sleep. There is a CD of sleepy time music, and the box can be used to hold anything you want. For some parents anything that makes bedtime easier and more enjoyable may be worth a try.
