Children's Literature

In this sturdy board book, toddlers are introduced to the twenty-six letters of the alphabet through photographs of the letters formed with foods that begin with the appropriate letter. Many are the foods that a child will have encountered such as French fries and peas. Some are more ethnic such as quesadilla, taco and udon noodles and some are a stretch such as "x-tra cheese." The photographs are clear. The letters are shown in upper and lower case and the food word beginning with that letter is bolded in the text. There are other things in the pictures to elicit further discussion and young kids will probably enjoy pointing to all the food that they recognize. 2004, Scholastic, Ages 1 to 3.
