And it is true that there is something for almost everyone in Nardi's nature story/science text/reference book about trees. The pen-and-ink drawings are attractive and appealing, and the fine level of detail strongly enhances the text, though none of the information is startlingly original. Although the writing is probably a little too dry and factual to be read strictly for entertainment, Nardi provides an abundance of fascinating facts about trees and the interdependence of the creatures that exist on and around them. He also gives helpful suggestions for projects designed to stimulate curiosity and help readers find out more about the complex, carefully balanced tree ecosystem. Young scientists will find this an enticing introduction to the subject of trees, and even adults will enjoy learning more about the intricate partnership between trees and other life-forms.
