Overview
This is the first comprehensive annotated bibliography of English-language works by and about Peter Matthiessen, who is considered by many to be the foremost contemporary American nature writer. The first part consists of entries on works by Matthiessen and is divided into individual sections for books, short fiction, articles and essays, sound recordings, video recordings, adaptations, and miscellany. The second part covers works about Matthiessen and is divided into sections for books and articles, book reviews, dissertations, reviews of sound recordings, reviews of videos, and miscellany. The annotations attempt to provide an indication of the central and significant points of each piece through description, summary, and quotation. Also included is a chronology and an introductory essay on Matthiessen and his work.Author Biography: William H. Roberson is professor and head of Reference Services at Southampton College, Long Island University. A teacher of American literature, his articles have appeared in Critique, Great Lakes Review, RQ, and Bulletin of Bibliography. He resides in Mastic, New York.
