Children's Literature

This delightful book is written as the day in the life of a puffer fish. In the sea under the Galapagos Islands lives a fish named Puffer. Puffer swims around looking for food during the day. He likes to eat crunchy foods and can do so because his teeth never stop growing. As Puffer enjoys his day he has to watch out for sharks and barracudas who like to eat puffer fish. Watch out, Puffer, one is near! When Puffer sees his enemy he will take a big gulp of water and fill his stomach. He becomes twice the size he is normally. The enemy can not swallow Puffer because he is too big. Puffer is safe for now! Have you ever heard of a fish that needs cleaned? Puffer does and will get the help of his friends the rainbow wrasses. Follow the adventures of Puffer as he swims and looks for food as well as darts away from enemiesβ€”even a sea bass! This enjoyable story will keep children interested as they turn from page to page. The vivid illustrations are beautifully done. The book is easy and simple to read and will be fun and informative to all who read it. It is part of the Smithsonian Oceanic Collection. Teachers will enjoy using this book in their classroom. 2003, Soundprints/Trudy Corporation, Ages 5 to 8.
