Gr 6-10-This biography of England's great queen reviews her life and discusses her accomplishments and legacy. While comprehensive, the book is also tedious, repetitive, and awkwardly written. There are several errors. Even worse, in a series that prides itself on its vast use of footnoted quotations, at least half the documents are incorrectly cited and/or quoted. Captioned black-and-white reproductions appear throughout, but there is no family tree. The only maps plot the routes of the Spanish Armada. Jane Resh Thomas's Behind the Mask (Clarion, 1998) is a fascinating, detailed, well-written account of the queen's life. Catherine Bush's Elizabeth I (Chelsea, 1985; o.p.) is also a better choice than Price-Groff's title.-Ann W. Moore, Schenectady County Public Library, NY Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
