Children's Literature - Erin Pelletier

Part of the "Robozones" series of books, this book talks about robots that make voyages. Similar to the rest of the books in the series, each chapter is busy with illustrations and pictures, with accompanying text, captions, and sidebars that provide a lot of information. The organization of the book will appeal to both avid and reluctant readers. Much of the book is focused on the voyages robots take into space to investigate, take pictures, and collects soil samples from planets, moons, and even comets. Many times, robots are taking such voyages instead of humans because of the potential dangers. Robots are able to go into extreme zones such as volcanoes and disaster areas to collect data for scientists or even rescue victims. Robots used underwater and in the skies, spying on enemies or detecting pollution, are also discussed. The book concludes with a look at the future applications for robot voyagers. Also included is a timeline, glossary, and index for fast referencing. Reviewer: Erin Pelletier
