Overview

Sid Spider loves to study space. In this level one phonics book, he discovers something very strange when he first looks into the eyepiece of the telescope. I wonder what it is? He solves the mystery and then looks into space to see stars, moon and comets. Sid Spider had his birth as a Happy character in 1996 when we had an idea for a book called: Sidney Spider Studies Space. He appeared on our early visual version of the Read Along Ranch Map in his observatory in the desert. Today, this short, phonics story about Sidney allows young readers to use their imagination and go with him as he explores the magic of the sky above. Our Phonics Readers use a limited number of words to tell a story, depending on colorful illustrations to fill in the details. They all have a Look, Listen, and Think page after the story which helps children think about what they just read. There are activity pages at the end. Creating a Happy World of Stories for Kids Everywhere since 1996.

About the Author, Chris Morningforest

Chris and Rebecca began writing these books with the idea that, some day, children all over the world would be able to enjoy the adventures of the Happys. The images were conceived and brought to life by Chris in 1976 and, 20 years later, she and Rebecca began putting stories with them. Both Chris and Rebecca are retired school teachers who worked primarily with elementary school children. They have, together, written over 100 stories and Chris is illustrating them as fast as she can! Rebecca lives in upstate NY and raises Arabian horses. She has lots of cats and fish and other critters as well. Chris lives near Phoenix, Arizona and loves to travel, hike on the desert, kayak on the beautiful lakes near where she lives and camp in her van. They both have a commitment to bring fun, uplifting, positive stories to children throughout the world. The internet has made that dream a reality. Now you can get their books and other material as eBooks on this and many other internet sites.
