Synopsis

Lisa's dog, cat, and mouse are causing her A LOT of trouble!

Sara Lorimer - Children's Literature

Lisa, waiting for her mom to play with her, draws a blue mouse with her crayons. "Then—skimper-scamper—the mouse ran off the paper!" The mouse messes up Lisa's room, so she draws a yellow cat to catch the mouse. It also runs "skimper-scamper" off the paper, as does a black dog she draws to catch the cat. They all three continue to play chaotically, until Lisa promises them a surprise if they clean up their mess. When she goes outside to play, she makes a paper airplane for the animals to fly on. Parents might find this book a bit boring, but young readers will be amused. The illustrations are lively, if a bit cute, and the illustrator has done a good job of making Lisa's drawings separate from her own. It includes brief instruction on making a collage. 2005, Green Light Readers/Harcourt, Ages 2 to 7.
