Children's Literature

Skippyjon Jones has a following from his picture books. This crazy kitten still has plenty of energy, which is demonstrated in this board book. The counting lesson introduces some unusual items as readers move from one to ten—five bags of frozen peas, six fuzzy pinatas, seven rolls of toilet tissue, and so on. There does not seem to be any logic or real story, just a progression of items not normally appearing in counting books. The back inside cover presents the numbers from one to ten in English and Spanish, along with their Arabic form. A companion book to Up & Down, Color Crazy and Shape Up. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
