Overview

Special Edition Using Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 emphasizes integrating Exchange with the Internet, as well as extending its functionality into the area of collaboration. The authoring team from Software Spectrum provides both the theory and the best practices when working with Exchange. Specifically, Kent Joshi, a Managing Consultant draws upon his 13 years of corporate experience including his work at Microsoft, IBM, and his own company to cut through the hype and get down to nuts and bolts. In addition, this edition features additional coverage of undocumented features, workarounds, and practical (and unapologetic) advice for avoiding features that don't work well.

From Barnes & Noble

The Barnes & Noble Review
To write Special Edition Using Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, Kent Yoshi has assembled consultants from three leading network integrators -- Lucent, Compaq, and Software Spectrum. If you're looking for an independent, best-practices guide to deploying and managing Microsoft's most powerful enterprise messaging platform, you've just found it.

The authors cover every aspect of Exchange 2000 planning and installation: architecture, security, network performance, Windows 2000/Active Directory integration, routing groups, naming strategies, and more. There are detailed chapters on migrating to Exchange 2000 -- from older versions of Exchange, from SMTP and X.400, from MS Mail, cc:Mail, and Groupwise.

You'll find detailed coverage of setting up connectors to Active Directory, SMTP, and Microsoft Mail. There's also a full section on day-to-day administration, including monitoring, tuning, and disaster recovery.

Next, it's on to the client side, where you'll discover how to make the most of Outlook 2000 in an Exchange environment -- including how to use Microsoft's Digital Dashboards to simplify access to knowledge throughout the enterprise, and how to use Outlook Forms to streamline processes like expense reporting.
