Children's Literature

A great way to help young readers learn about sports around the world, this "Eye Openers" series would be an asset to most any classroom. Easy to read maps and key concepts cover the subjects of diversity, culture and geography. Young minds can read about popular sports in ten different countries around the world including France, England and Brazil. Sumo wrestling is the national sport in this country while cricket is popular in another. In Spain bullfighting is the national sport and matadors are greatly admired. In Mexico special divers dive from the tops of cliffs in Acapulco. Many cliffs are more than a hundred feet above the ocean. Readers can learn more interesting sports facts in this book which includes colorful pictures, an index and bibliography to reinforce learning and spark curiosity. This book is a great tool in expanding the world of young readers. 2002, Blackbirch Press/The Gale Group, Ages 7 to 10.
