Children's Literature - Barbara Wheatley

A new addition in the "For Fun!" series, Dell's book provides information about stamping in three main sections, the basics of stamping, stamping projects, and stamping people and places. A short history of stamping, the anatomy of a stamp, and how to care for the stamps begins the first section. The other tools used in stamping are also introduced, from the various types of mediums to stamp with—stamp pads, paints, or markers—to the materials to be stamped—paper, tiles, and fabric. The five basic stamping projects included are greeting cards, stamped ceramic tiles, bookmarks, a T-shirt, and a placemat. Each book in the series includes a table of contents, glossary, and additional resources. Clear, bright photographs accompany every section, and each project is accompanied by a photograph of the finished project, but diagrams or photos for each step would take this book from being adequate to exceptional. Due to the absence of the step-by-step photos or diagrams, this book's value is in the facts, methods, tips, and other information, rather than the project instructions. Reviewer: Barbara Wheatley
