Detailed illustrations, accessible information and fun activities will stimulate children's interest in nature and help them identify the bugs where they live and all across the United States.

Synopsis

This book in the Starting with Nature series is a must-have comprehensive resource for every young bug naturalist.

Children's Literature

In this interactive book children learn about insects and nature. Hickman briefly explains that the book is about a variety of insects-not just bugs, which are one type of insect. While it may not seem significant, this is an important detail for children to know when they are learning about nature since many people equate insects to bugs. The detailed illustrations bring the insects to life, and the text provides activities that allow readers to further investigate nature in a safe and respectful manner. It also encourages readers to ask questions.
