Overview

This text provides a theoretical and practical introduction to statistical methods for students, researchers and practitioners carrying out quantitative research in organizations. Emphasis is placed on understanding key statistical concepts and issues, developing knowledge of available statistical techniques and what they can be used for, becoming familiar with practical data analysis, and knowing how to interpret and report the results of statistical analysis. Wherever possible the text is non-mathematical in order to make it accessible as possible. The reader is introduced to elementary material and their knowledge is evolved as the book proceeds. The material is interactive and the book can be used as a stand-alone introduction to statistics, a reference text, or as an adopted text on a taught case. Pedagogical features include question and answer sections for students and a website is planned to include two programs, one called a 'confidence program' and the other developed to show students how to determine sample sizes for statistical research.
